ABOUT THIS SITE

This is the personal website of David Leedham, born in the village of Billesdon and living in the County of Leicestershire, in the English Midlands.

I am the grandson of John Shellaker, the 13th and youngest child of Richard and Mary Grocock.

The aim of this website is to place into the public domain my research, and that of others, into the history of my maternal family surname - SHELLAKER (which includes several centuries-old spelling deviations of that surname such as ‘Shellakers’, ‘Shillakars’, ‘Shilakers’ and ‘Shelacres’.

I also endeavoured to expand beyond the presentation of a mere chronological, and potentially stale, list of dates but have instead have attempted to use those dates and other evidence to create 'stories' to assist in our understanding of the lives of Shellaker ancestors.

I welcome contact from others who have information, documents and photographs which may further enhance the stories contain with this 'Shellaker archive'.

If you have such information there are several ways to contact me: the Contact Form on the right or via the Contact page. Alternatively consider adding to or starting a topic within the Forum for which you will first need to register. Details on the simple registration process is on the Forum page.
